Accuracy in testing for DON

Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin naturally produced by the fungus that causes Gibberella ear rot in corn. Accurate sampling is crucial to reduce false readings and improve grain management during delivery. After a significant Gibberella outbreak in Ontario in 2018, University of Guelph research highlighted essential improvements to the DON sampling protocol for better testing accuracy.
